Poem - Bird Symphony

Rainbows at Night - The Poems of Clive Culverhouse

Bird Symphony

Birds sitting on wires

on overhead cables stretched in line

after a million tries of time their bodies arrange

in such a way

across the lines above

recreate Beethoven or Mozart

ready to be played by natures natural art

they perch in symphony

a musical score above the trees

and then it’s all over

chaotic flight brings an end

wings from wires

as the musical piece crescendos

to a breath-taking finish

and the busy birds are gone

their concert over

with swirling stirring success

from the wires overhead

and the tragedy was

that no-one noticed

not one looked up to see

but me
